Is it possible to make friends with someone who uses an avatar?


Yes. Why? I think that the concept of friends have been developed. In my father's time, friends had to be something that could give up their lives for other friends. But, I think that definition is too strict for friends in 21st centuries. Because, we don't share our time with friends such like that. 30 years ago, my father spent tons of time with his friends. It was very natural. But nowadays, at least in Korea, children have to go to academies after school. All they have to do is studying. So I understand the idea of friends that was created in my father's generation as an ancient artifact before the information revolution and the SNS revolution, where modern busyness was not considered. So if you have this broad understanding of the concept of friends, we can be sure that friends are fully possible in the virtual world.
