코로나는 바닐라 아이스크림?!

After fulfilling all my military missions, South Korea became the country with the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases. I heard about the struggles of street vendors and restaurant owners who faced significant income declines due to the pandemic. While I understood why they had a hard time, I found it difficult to sympathize with people who said they suffered simply because they were unable to connect with others.

 

While many people have struggled with the challenges brought about by COVID-19, I believe that everyone's experience could have been different. For someone, like me, the pandemic was like a soft vanilla ice cream. In fact, my experiences in the military during that period were so difficult that even contracting COVID-19 felt like a peaceful relief for me. Completing all my military missions was certainly a significant accomplishment. The challenges of military life can be immense and taxing, both physically and mentally, so it was easy for me to cope with the pandemic in comparison.

 

It's important to remember that people experience difficult situations differently. In my case, I really wanted to study hard during my time in the military, but it was challenging to focus on studying during that time. I was only able to manage about two hours of studying almost every day(of course not during training seasons). However, during COVID-19, I was able to study almost anything I wanted, which felt like heaven for me.

 

(It could be crucial to acknowledge and respect the diversity of experiences and not dismiss others' struggles just because they may seem less severe.)
