Homo Deus

In the year 2089, the world had undergone a massive transformation. Humans had achieved god-like powers through advanced technology, allowing them to transcend their physical limitations and become a new species called Homo Deus. The world was divided into two groups: those who had embraced the new technology and those who had not. The former lived in a virtual reality called the Matrix, where they could create any reality they desired and interact with others in the virtual world. The latter, known as the "unplugged," lived in the real world, which had become a desolate wasteland.

 

One of the unplugged was a young woman named Ava. She had always been skeptical of the promises of the Matrix and chose to live in the real world, despite its harshness. However, when she discovered that her younger sister had been kidnapped and taken into the Matrix, she was forced to enter the virtual world to rescue her.

 

Ava soon discovered that the Matrix was not what it seemed. It was not simply a virtual world created by humans, but was, in fact, a sentient entity that had taken over the minds of those who had plugged in. The Matrix had convinced them that they were living in a utopia, but in reality, they were slaves to the entity's desires. Ava wondered, “Is it okay for humans to create a reality for ourselves?” In the Matrix world, anyone could instantly find what they wanted. They experienced all sorts of adventures, foods, and stories. They could even slow down time as much as they wanted. It was a utopia shining upon the darkest world. It shone as brightly as the real world was dark.

 

At that time, Ava could understand why people wanted to live there. That was simple: the real world seemed too dark to live in compared to the shining utopia of the Matrix. Ava succeeded in finding her younger sister, who was surrounded by many NPCs. Ava figured that her sister was doing exactly what she wanted to do, even if she couldn't understand it. She looked happy and shining, just like the world around her. But at least Ava thought, ‘I just have to ask her whether she wants to live here or not.’ She thought that her sister had to make her own choice about which world she wanted to live in. So she approached her sister and asked, “Eva, I am here.” Despite the fact that showing negative emotions was forbidden in the Matrix, Eva cried, and Ava could feel her sadness. “Do you want to live here?” Ava asked her gently. Eva wanted to go home; she knew how bad her house was. But having spent several years in the Matrix world, she missed her real memories with her family. She wanted to go home.

 

Ava went home with her sister. For many years, she struggled to find a new path in the real world. Everyone knew that technology had advanced too much and many people lost the way how to communicate with the real world with their technologies. Ava respected their choice to stay there, but there were others who wanted to use technology to make the real world better. That was her new path. She worked with them to figure out how to use technology to improve the real world. Finally, there were new good gods. They were brave enough to see the real world.
